    Highly Recommended
Excellent in every way: cooks great, quickly, evenly, and well; looks great on my countertop; easy to clean; easy to use; and it creates a mouth-watering grill pattern on my steaks and hamburgers. I really like to grill corn-on-the-cob using its large grill. It’s not completely smokeless, but the smoke was very restrained and didn’t stink up the house. I have a new rug that’s doing that.

    Great BBQ for apartment living
This is a great little BBQ if you live in an apartment and need to cook discreetly on your patio because it emits very little smoke, and the food cooks quickly. It heats up to a decent temperature for cooking chicken, burgers, or steak, or at a lower temperature for shrimp, veggies, etc. I was amazed at how nice the sear was on the steak, and I learned quickly to cut the cooking time so as not to overcook the meat – that is how hot it gets. I also like that it cleans up easily and is lightweight, so I can easily bring it outside to cook while storing it in the garage when not in use.

Heats up quickly and cooks evenly. Somewhat difficult to clean the grill plate.
I have a love/hate relationship with this grill! After my previous grill had reach it’s lifespan (3 years of being used almost daily) I began a search for another grill as the previous one I had was no longer made. I wanted a temperature control feature as well as nonstick grill surfaces that are removable, a grease pan and grill plates that are easy to clean. I got almost everything on my wish list. I have used it about 10 times since purchasing it. I find it heats up quickly…I often use it on 350 and it takes about 5 minutes. It heats up to 400 and has a seat feature but I haven’t used that feature yet. I also find food cooks evenly no matter where it is placed on the grill pan. The grill surfaces measures about 8 3/4″ x 12 1/4″. I have used it for chickenn, pork and fish. The grease pan works perfectly to catch drippings and is easy to remove and clean as it just slides out. It measures about 1 1/2″ deep. I like the lid as it is high enough that it doesn’t interfere with what is on the grill plate and keeps spatters at bay. The total width of the grill is about 15 1/2″ wide. My main issue is cleaning the grill plate. My previous grill had removable top and bottom grill plates that I would wipe off while still warm to remove any extra grease (that I didn’t want to go down the sink) and then I would put them in a sink of hot soapy water to soak. I could them easily clean them with a nonscratch sponge. I didn’t realize that this grill has the heating elements built into the back of the grill plate. Although the directions do say you can place the grill plate in the dishwasher but I can’t imagine puttng this in a dishwasher without ruining it. The directions say not to emurse the heating elements in water which I realize would happen in a dishwasher but still…Maybe some other owners can report if they have washed it this way. My mother in law had a grill like my previous one and put the grill plates in the dishwasher as instructed by the company and due to the high heat the nonstick feature quickly wore off. I keep thinking the same would happen with this plus the heating elements being ruined on this one. I usually wash it holding the heating elements out of the sink and scrub it with a nonscratch sponge but it is really difficult to remove anything stuck in the openings of the grill plate. I use a soft toothbrush for that but I find it overall very difficult to clean. I am happy with the performance of it but the cleaning issue is the reason for 4 stars.

LOVE this grill, no more using the big gas grill outside!
I’m recently cooking for just one again, and I love grilled foods… but pulling out the huge gas grill just to make one steak, one hamburger, or one of anything just seemed to be too much for me. Plus, my hubby always changed out the big tanks for me, and since I lost him, I just don’t feel comfortable doing that myself. So, I decided to try one of those new fangled indoor smokeless grills. And I decided on this one because #1. I have never been disappointed with a Hamilton Beach product and #2. I liked the idea of the searing grill! I am very happy that I did choose this one! It works WONDERFULLY!The first thing I tried was a nice boneless rib eye steak. I followed the direction to a T, tested the internal temp before removing it from the grill, and I had the most tender, perfectly cooked steak! My next “test” was a bone-in center cut pork chop, along with a zucchini, onion and sweet potato to go with. Here, I made a mistake by not reading the instructions perfectly before hand, and I started the chop before starting the veggies. So, by the time my chop was done, the veggies were still a bit too crisp and undercooked for my liking. But that was MY fault, not the grill’s. Third time was the charm, same ingredients only this time I tried a boneless chop. I started the veggies a bit before the meat, with the setting on sear… then added the meat, started the meat timer (NOT included, just my own digital timer), turned down the heat when I turned the meat and veggies… and ended up with a DELISH dinner, with everything cooked to perfection! And to my surprise, every single time I cook a chop on this thing I get a PERFECTLY cooked chop, tender, moist, and cooked to perfection! Next up was a good ol’ hamburger. This thing cooks a delish burger in the time it takes to heat up my large outdoor gas grill, and I end up with a burger that is cooked to the doneness I want, is juicy, tender, and I didn’t have to pull out that huge grill! One night I decided I just wanted grilled veggies for dinner, so I settled on sweet potato, tomatoes, sweet onion and green peppers. I DID add some flour to the tomatoes, but just seasonings on the other veggies. And again, everything cooked to perfection, tasted wonderful, and this has become an often cooked meal at my house now. I honestly use this grill at LEAST 3 times a week now, and the only thing I’ve made that was excellent was one steak, that was cooked to perfection but was just a lousy tough mess, and it was the steak, not the grill! Now, one thing that’s easy about an outside, gas grill is clean up. Turn up that baby to high for a few minutes, then run a brush over it, right? Or in my case, and stainless steal scrubber that doesn’t shed bristles that can get caught in your food. ANYway, clean up with this grill is even easier than that! A quick rinse under hot water and 99% of the burned on crumblies just rinse away, and a quick wipe with a soapy sponge leaves me with a perfectly cleaned grill. The drip try slides out and is just as easy to clean. The lid slide off and again, just a quick wipe with a soap sponge and it’s good to go!I mentioned my new grill to a neighbor, and showed them a pic of one of my completed meals (yes, I take pics of my cooking!) and next thing I knew, she was asking me how to clean it properly, she went and ordered one for herself. And just so everyone understands this, the grill comes out of the appliance easily, just lift it up, and the removable parts all ALL able to be submerged in soapy water! She was afraid of getting the two pronged “connectors” wet, but you don’t have to worry about that, the only part that can’t be submerged is the actual body of the grill, the part that has the cord attached to it!I have since posted about my new kitchen love affair on a diet site that I frequent, and so far, 3 of my online buddies have also purchased this fantastic grill. And every last one of them thanks me every time they use it, saying it’s the easiest thing to clean, that it does such a great job of grilling all their different foods, and not one of them has had a single complaint about this searing grill! And I do have to admit, my food LOOKS prettier when it comes off this grill than when I would cook on the big gas grill, the colors are better, less burned/browned, less overcooked, less smoky looking. Hey food appearance can make a difference in taste, too!So, all in all, I simply LOVE my searing grill. It makes everything easy to cook, from burgers to links to steaks to shrimp to veggies and even to tomatoes! I couldn’t be more pleased with my grill. OH and I forgot to mention, I have NEVER had to grease this baby, no quick sprays of oil, no rubbing it down before heating… nothing sticks to it, which is why it is so very easy to clean! SO my food is also lower in calories, especially my veggies which I would always spray with oil before putting on the grill! Now, I just sprinkle spices and cook! I give this appliance 2 thumbs up and wish I had a few more thumbs to give to it!

Well, I’m sold!I was cooking my dinner within 10 minutes of unpacking this!I had everything prepped and ready-to-go, I was waiting for the Amazon driver to show up, SOOOOO hungry but darn it, I was so excited to use my new grill! Then, IT happened! The buzzer rang!”HE’S HERE!” I yelled to no one…I tore that box open, I got a paper cut, but screw it, let the blood flow! I was hungry!I washed my new grill. I made sure she was clean and shiny. She was. She’s so easy to put together. Only 4 pieces and they all go together like they were made for each other! Wait…I plugged her in. I turned the dial. I got the chicken out of the fridge. I got the veggie skewers out. All was perfect. The brown and wild rice pilaf was cooking in the air fryer. Life was beautiful. Then, I heard it. A quiet little “click”. No, not really a “click”, more of a “clunk”, I guess. That’s okay, it was the sound of my grill being READY. She was heated up.I got the tongs. I got the first piece of marinated, de-boned chicken thigh. I placed it gently on the grill. “SIZZLE!” it shrieked to me. “Ssshhhhh” I said gently. “It’s okay. This is how it’s supposed to be.”The chicken responded by quieting down and welcoming the second piece, which also gave a little vocalization of hesitant fear, or was it delight? I like to think it was delight. Yes. Sweet, gentle delight. After letting them relax and bask in their juicy, tasty, juicy-tastiness for a while, I then added their new friends, the veggie skewers. Ah, yes. The skewers. No, no, the skewers were not for eating! The skewers were the mere presenters of the beautiful vegetables impaled upon them. The peppers, both red and green, the mushrooms, peeled lovingly, the onion layers, the carrot slices, the celery pieces, the garlic grated over this beauty and drizzled with olive oil, then lightly dusted with salt and pepper. My God, what a meal. But the grill! How did it do? You’re thinking, this woman has had too much to drink! Ah, but no.This is just a really good grill. You should buy one. Everything cooked perfectly. Browned nicely. No smoking!
