Great option for the price range.
I got this unit to replace an older one that finally gave in. To me it is a basic unit that does its job. Lacks any advanced features but I’m not missing them. I use mainly pre-made bags so the missing roll storage is not a problem. I’l take the compact size over the storage.Pros: Small size, easier to store, solid vacuum and seal, simple to operate and use.Cons: no space to hold bag roll, does take a bit of force to lock the lid – hopefully this will not be a problem down the road.

This is actually the third brand I have purchased. The first one, the heat seal stopped working. The second one sometimes failed to vacuum the air. Went with a more name brand one this round so hopefully it will continue to work well for me.

Probably the best option in the price range.
If you’re on the fence about a vacuum sealer, you probably won’t regret buying one. If you have a family to feed and want to save money buy buying meat and veggies in bulk and freeze, this one will pay for itself in just a few weeks. Even if you decide on spending a little more on a different one, you should get one regardless. This one in particular is a decent “cheap” sealer. For the money, it works great. Some reviews say it stops working, mine works fine after 2 years. I did give it 4 stars because it does struggle sometimes to seal moist foods but if you switch to the dry setting while leaving the lid latched and press seal again and just let is go for 4-5 seconds more, it seems to work fine. Also, clean your sealer strip. It helps, as when it gets dirty (and it will) it doesn’t make contact as well. Overall, it’s affordable, fast, easy to store, easy to use, and even if SOMETIMES you’ll have to do it over to seal, it’s still well worth the money. You could pay a lot more and still have issues. If mine were to break today, I’d buy another one tomorrow.

This food saver works exactly as advertised. It works quickly to vacuum and seal food for freezer. Allows me to purchase more during sales and saves money.

A great basic machine
This compact Foodsaver has one big thing going for it: it stores away easily.Now as to the machine itself:It has no storage for rolls. No big deal for me. I find it more cumbersome to constantly swap out rolls than to just seal and cut to size.It has no auto lock and release function. To get that you have to pay quite a bit more, and those machines are a lot bigger.It has no auto seal function. You cut a bag from the roll, lay it in the machine, lock the machine by pressing down on both sides until it clicks and the green light comes on, then hit Seal. When it shuts off you depress the two buttons on the sides and the machine releases the bag. Take it out, fill it, put it back in the machine, and hit Vacuum. The machine will automatically switch to Seal mode one it detects no more air. The only difference between this and the expensive machines are the manual steps, but you get in a routine quickly.A word on bags vs rolls: the quart bags are convenient, but I prefer the rolls in both small and large sizes. I cut the bags a lot longer than I need them and then open them just below the seal. I wash and reuse the bags until they get too short for anything. I write the contents on the strip ABOVE the seal, that way there is no confusion as to contents since that strip gets cut away. Doing this cuts way down on having to constantly buy these expensive bags. – Also, when I fill a bag I turn the edge down so that part of the bag always stays clean which makes for a clean seal. I hope these hints from a Foodsaver “oldtimer” help.

Game-Changer for Food Storage!
We put off getting a vacuum sealer for way too long—one of those things we talked about but never actually bought. Now that we finally have one, I can’t believe we waited this long. After using it to store a bunch of steaks we grabbed on sale, I’m sold—we’ll always have a vacuum sealer from now on.This model in particular is simple and super easy to use, which made the whole process even better. The seal is tight, it works quickly, and the results are awesome. Everything stays fresh, and freezer burn is no longer a worry. It’s already saving us money and making bulk buying way more practical.If you’re on the fence, don’t wait like we did—it’s totally worth it!

Fine as long as you don’t have hand pain or need to use one handed
I bought this because my old food saver v2240 quit vacuuming in the middle of plum processing season. It still seals bags easily and I’m probably going to keep it for when I have a lot of bags to seal. Such as now.This new one vacuums very well. It also seals bags just fine, but it’s just definitely more work than the old v2240. The only actual functional difference in the process between the two machines is the difficulty in closing and the slight increased difficulty in opening. You have to push down firmly on one side and then the other to close, and then you have to press a button on each side to open. All in all, I’m glad I got it. I’m sure I could’ve gotten one with more bells and whistles for more money, but this is fine for my purposes.

1. Nowhere in the description or photos does it even mention that this isn’t wired for Australian power or have an Australian plug.2. The package had obviously been opened and repacked. There were no instructions or even basic safety information included3. The whole thing just feels cheap and like a bad rip off product rather than a genuine FoodSaver???

While closing it may require a tad more effort, it’s a minor inconvenience compared to its sealing prowess.
