Discrete Microphone for Dictation on my Mac
I was always excited about having another way to enter data on my Mac, as I’m not as great at the keyboard as I’d like to be. I’m a champ on the mouse, but there’s nothing like the spoken word regarding entering data. No, even though there is no specific software for this microphone for MacIntosh, it integrates perfectly with the operating system for dictation. Two clicks on my hockey key, and it unmutes, and I’ve got a very good text entry system. I can practically whisper in this tiny mic and pick up almost every word I say. Sometimes, I have to be very articulate in my speaking manner, but for the most part, it’s quite unbelievable.I was using the built-in microphones from my WebCams, and I’m using an Oscbot Tiny 2, which is not an inexpensive device. It has stereo microphones, but having this small mic on my desktop about 18 inches from my mouth and dictation works better than ever. Excellent, I was thinking about upgrading to the Yeti to have software and flexibility, but it’s way too big. I’ve had the Yeti Nano in my box. Still, as far as I can tell, this has everything I need for the price I paid, which was $45 with a promotion I can upgrade when I’m ready to do some actual broadcasting, in the meantime, do not hesitate to buy this for your Mac unless you want to do studio work. I plugged in some headphones to see how I sounded, which was pretty good. I don’t know if it was broadcast quality, but it was pretty darn good, and it’s very good at dictation. The front gain control acts as a volume input control. The only extra I would get on the yeti is omnidirectional and the software, but again the size even on the nano is much larger than this. It’s highly recommended.

The best Razer mic (In my opinion)
This review is for the Razer Siren V2 X.Siren V2 X vs Siren MiniI chose the V2 X over the Mini because the Mini doesn’t have a physical mute button, but I found a Reddit comment saying that it sounds like a professional microphone, and that it’s much better than the Mini, so I felt better about paying twice as much for the V2 X than the Mini, which I initially couldn’t justify doing for just the mute button.Siren V2 X vs Siren V2 ProI chose the V2 X instead of the V2 Pro because I looked up reviews on Youtube, and didn’t like the sound of the Pro, and I assume dynamic microphones in general. The sound seems to catch the micro vibrations in the voice which I don’t like, I guess it has too much resolution. Noise cancellation might be superior on dynamic microphones like the V2 Pro as well, but I’ve had cheap condenser mics like the ones that come attached to headsets all my life, so I know what I’m getting into.Software:There’s some interesting features, like using the mic for your headphones, forwarding music / game audio through your mic, and mix it with the mic input. The software is not buggy, but the “streamer mix” features creates virtual inputs / outputs which Windows doesn’t take nicely to, and can lead to errors. So just use something else for the mixing. Some reviewers have stated that the mic is always active even when muted, which wakes up the screen. That might’ve been fixed with an update. The mic shuts off completely when you press the button. No delays, no errors, nothing. It has never failed me, and the function does not require having the Razer software installed. I believe it operates at the driver level, which is good. Conclusion:Overall, I’m happy with the V2 X. I had to disable echo cancellation inside Discord, since it was not picking up my voice until I did. But that’s the only issue I’ve had, and it wasn’t with the mic itself. The mic is mostly made out of plastic, which I personally like. It’s lighter so it puts less strain on the cheap boom arm I’m using. Also, I recommend getting a pop filter, the kind that’s like a foam cover on the microphone head if you have fans nearby. There’s boom arm bundles that come with pop filters. Any kind will work, even if they are meant for Blue Yeti, and it’s a better deal than buying them separately.I’m actually using the mic with a strong fan right behind it. I do have to keep gain at 100, but the filter eliminates wind noise, and I can keep the mic comfortably about a feet and a half away from my face.

Very good, but tough for Macs.
I really like the sound quality and the design of the pedestal. It does connect to my MacBook, but after I connect it, I have to restart my computer or things like internet connection get messed up. Also,What’s App recognizes it as a speaker, not as a microphone. Perhaps other Apps will too.

    Quality Mic
I bought this mic when it was on sale during Black Friday/Cyber Monday for $60, and paired it with a $40 boom arm. For that price, it is an incredibly good microphone. It sounds great and has a mute button on the mic itself which is nice. The gain knob on it is kind of shmeh however, because you can’t see what the gain is being set to outside of Razer Synapse or windows settings. Razer Synapse is also incredibly easy to use with this mic, though there isn’t many useful controls besides the gain limiter, which is a useful feature.

  9. Menla

Great mic, everyone can hear me clearly. Zero complaints. I use it both for work, personal calls and gaming. My favorite feature is the hard mute/unmute button with the color indicator 🙂 It’s also compatible with this external goose/neck mic holder I purchased which is very convenient
