an OK entry-level “fun” camera, an affordable beginner camera
I picked up the Minolta MND20 hoping for a fun, compact camera I could use when I didn’t want to pull out my phone, and overall it’s a mixed bag—but fun to tinker with. On the plus side, it’s extremely pocketable and comes loaded with features like 44 MP stills (I’m a bit skeptical of the 44MP given its sensor size), 2.7K video, a 16× digital zoom, anti-shake stabilization, face detection, time lapse, and a 2.9-inch LCD display. I found the camera fairly easy to navigate, and the preset intelligent scene modes do help if you don’t want to mess with manual settings. For everyday daylight shots, it can produce decent images for a casual or social-media use—while the colors can be a little flat and the sharpness soft, especially when you push the digital zoom (no optical zoom) or crop heavily. In low light or indoor settings, though, it struggles: noise creeps in, and the “anti-shake” can only do so much. Also, the fixed-focus lens (f/3.2, 7.36 mm) means you can’t adjust focus yourself, which limits flexibility. Video is just okay—2.7K looks better than standard definition, but it’s not going to rival a serious camcorder or phone video. Battery life is one of the biggest pain points. During extended shoots or video clips, it drains way faster than I’d expected. For its price point it’s not terrible, but I’d recommend it more as a novelty or beginner gadget than a dependable everyday shooter.

Warning: This camera does not take high resolution photos and most photos will look blurry
Warning: This camera does not take high resolution photos and most photos will look blurry. Even on the highest setting 44 MB, this camera has taken 95% blurry photos and 100% low resolution photos. Even if you hold the camera still, the photos look slightly blurry. If you get one sharp photo, it shows off-colored red or white pixels in parts of the photos. This camera takes very poor photos. I have been using digital cameras (Sony, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic) for over 25 years. It is a shame the Minolta brand has manufactured such a poor camera as this. The settings are useless. I tried all their settings as a test and none worked properly. They all ended up slightly blurry or pixelated especially in low light settings.

    Buy it
You get what you paid for , it is a cute and the photos are very 2000

  4. Jcfe

More complicated and difficult to use
More complicated than the Canon variety. Manual doesn’t explain well. For instance switching from camera to movie is a 2-3 step operation. Zoom is digital not actual, so the appearance of an expanding lens on the front of the camera is false, it’s just digital zoom. Going to donate this camera and buy either a Canon or other brand.

  5. Sara Smith

    Battery
the battery doesn’t last so long

    Don’t waste your money
When I was looking for a camera for my child, I really wanted one like I have. Unfortunately they no longer sell the model of my camera. So I bought his one thinking Minolta has been a good brand. But the quality of this camera doesn’t match the price. It’s a cheap piece of junk. The camera is slow and takes blurry pictures. It’s as bad as a disposable camera. My kid likes it, thought so I guess it will just be an expensive practice camera.

    Nice camera for the cost
I got this camera for my daughter as a Christmas gift. She loves it. It takes petty good pictures. It takes a bit of a learning curve to use the features as she had to spend some time working with it but she quickly caught on and loves it!Great camera for a beginner photographer or teen who wants to take higher quality pictures.

    Amazon is the best!
Good camera for price and availability. Easy to us with auto focus. Very functional and compact.

  9. MinkiP

The picture quality on this product is terrible. It struggles to both zoom and focus. You are much better off using a phone – even an older phone! Save your money.

  12. Reza

Don’t waste your money on this camera. Minolta had the best film cameras only.
