Combine the surprising truth about brain food with the cutting-edge science of brain metabolism to achieve extraordinary improvements to your emotional, cognitive, and physical health.

Are you struggling with attention problems, mood swings, food obsession, or depression? Whatever the issue, you have far more control over your thoughts, feelings, and behavior than you realize. Although medications may bring some relief, in Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind, Dr. Georgia Ede reveals that the most powerful way to change brain chemistry is with food, because that’s where brain chemicals come from in the first place.

In this provocative, illuminating guide, Dr. Ede explains why nearly everything we think we know about brain-healthy diets is wrong. We’ve been told the way to protect our brains is with superfoods, supplements, and plant-based diets rich in whole grains and legumes, but the science tells a different story: not only do these strategies often fail, but some can even work against us. The truth about brain food is that meat is not dangerous, vegan diets are not healthier, and antioxidants are not the answer.

Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind will empower you to: understand how unscientific research methods drive fickle nutrition headlines and illogical dietary guidelines weigh the risks and benefits of your favorite foods so you can make your own informed choices about what to eat evaluate yourself for signs of insulin resistance—the silent metabolic disease that robs your brain of the energy it needs to thrive improve your mental health with a choice of moderate-carbohydrate and ketogenic diets that you can personalize to your food preferences and health goals Drawing on a wide range of scientific disciplines including biochemistry, neuroscience, and botany, Dr. Ede will ignite your curiosity about the fascinating world of food and its role in nourishing, protecting, and energizing your brain.

A must-read for leaders in public policy, health care, education, criminal justice, and agriculture
“Avoiding experimentation allows you to continue believing in your theory without having to re-evaluate it,” writes Georgia Ede.In a meticulously cited, easy-to-digest (pun intended) narrative, Ede walks us through steps we can all take to experience better mental health. Her critical analysis of numerous studies — exciting and important ones as well as overhyped ones that prove nothing — captivated me. It was humbling to realize I’d been duped by powerful institutions masquerading junk science as sound science. This is not your typical self help book. It doesn’t just rehash everything we’ve already heard countless times about the paleo, keto, and carnivore ways. A small sample of the compelling information you’ll learn includes:-exactly why I have such an addictive reaction to certain foods (it’s not my emotions after all).-why our brains don’t need us to consume sugar-that in vitro studies don’t tell us how a substance behaves in a live human body-how to greatly decrease our chances of getting Alzheimer’s and cancer-why fiber is optional, and for some people even harmful-why alcohol doesn’t do our bodies any favors-how sugars and starches can inflame our gut-the recipe for a homemade electrolyte solutionEde guides the reader through identifying a personalized eating plan. As a former carb-loading athlete then vegan, I’m eating meat, eggs, organs, seafood, cheese (not recommended in the book, but I swear there are a few types of cheese that don’t seem to bother me), herbs, and a small amount of botanical fruits. It’s simple, nourishing, and delicious. My acne and binges are gone, and my digestion is leaps and bounds better. My body doesn’t seem to want more than 6 hours of sleep per night. No caffeine needed. If you’ve read this far, you deserve some of the LOL moments:”. . . one was a rat-human study (a study of rats and humans, not of hybrid rat-human creatures).””The result of these scrambled messages about eggs . . .””. . . no self-respecting plant wants you to eat the rest of its body.””Like a tree falling in a remote forest, the . . . take-down of the antioxidant theory made no sound.”” . . . the quantity of red wine you would need to drink to achieve even the lowest dosages of resveratrol used in clinical trials is 500 bottles per day.”As opposed to those who give patients false hope by exaggerating the effectiveness of their diet or supplement or miracle drug or medical procedure, Ede admits that the right diet is not a cure-all for everyone. That is honesty.I bought the Kindle version, but I bet the audiobook is equally enjoyable. I can’t recommend this book enough.

    CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Incredibly enlightening and helpful book. I have followed the instructions in one of the plans for the past two weeks and I have already begun losing weight gently and “effortlessly” after entering keto adaption. The hard work was in coming to terms with reality. Acknowledging my insulin resistance and realizing the misguidance of conventional dietary recommendations was the only challenge for me. The rest was easy. I eat less now, and my grocery bill is about half of what it was, since I no longer buy junk snacks or baked goods.I wish my parents and family had this knowledge so much earlier, and their parents and theirs… The book is a labor of love to humankind. Laypeople would have no other way to know how much power we have by simply deciding how we eat. We learn so little of true science, and we try to piece things together from trusted sources of news, but a voice like Dr. Georgia Ede’s will endure as a compassionate and generous champion of reliable guidance. With this book, she has rung the bell of health revolution that previously eluded anyone who could not afford the “healing spas” available only to the obscenely wealthy.I would award a Nobel prize to Dr. Ede.Dr. Ede returns power to the hands of everyone who reads her book. She responsibly points out repeatedly that care must be taken. It is important to read and re-read all her instructions carefully. Because food is emotionally charged, the reader may want to believe facts in isolation, but every word is important, and changing a way of living without the oversight of a medical professional ultimately means we must become as fluent and conscientious as a good doctor would be if they were here to guide us. We must be aware of our proclivities and allow the book to challenge our preconceived notions with care and without blindspots in thinking. All the information and their sources are cited well so we can research more. The hardest part is accepting and grieving the years of ignorance we have endured. Then the gift of health is at our fingertips in this book. Dr. Ede is an exceptional professional. Listen to her words carefully and, as it did mine, her book will change your life.

    Simply Phenomenal
Everything about this book is excellent. It is well written and an enjoyable read. The information is well presented and supported by multiple references. Points are discussed intelligently with good evidence and with no hysterics or forced agendas. This is probably the best book on health and nutrition I’ve read. Although the focus appears to be on mental health, the information in this book holds for all aspects of health and well being. Since implementing many of strategies mentioned in the book I have seen incredible improvements in my overall health. Thank you Dr Ede!!!!!

    Read it
Wealth of information shared in a way that makes it easy to understand. Discovered my doctor and I were reading it at the same time.

  6. josephde

  10. Slither 123

Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind by Dr. Georgia Ede is an excellent and eye-opening exploration of the powerful connection between what we eat and how we feel. As someone who has already been avoiding ultra-processed foods for general health, this book helped solidify my decision to move toward a ketogenic diet—not just for physical benefits, but for mental clarity and overall well-being.While the subject matter is rooted in science and can be quite technical at times, Dr. Ede does a great job of breaking it down in a way that’s both accessible and engaging. Her insights are backed by solid research, and she presents them in a balanced, thoughtful manner.I’d highly recommend this book to anyone curious about the link between diet and mental health—whether you’re just starting out on your health journey or looking to deepen your understanding of how nutrition impacts the brain.
