Coffee, Little wait.
Opened up our new coffee maker this morning and within minutes it was brewing up a pot of fresh, hot coffee. It’s a real nice coffee maker for the low price. it’s light weight and easy to handle thereby lending itself to easier cleaning. It utilizes standard size paper filters. It does not come with a mesh basket but that can be purchased separately if on is desired. It has a 12 cup capacity which is more than ample. It is so quiet when it is brewing coffee that you hardly know it’s on and you don’t have long to wait to wake up to a great tasting cup of joe.

Decent Basic Coffee Maker
This coffee maker was purchased to replace a Mr. Coffee that was in use for about 10 years. It is very basic, and does make good coffee. I agree with other reviewers that the system to grab a cup while brewing does not work very well. The problem lies, I think, in the fact that the basket is not engineered to be held in place well enough when the spring is depressed. Even taking the glass carafe out when brewing is done will show this. Instead of the spring engagement stopping the flow of coffee, it causes the basket to rise. I tried making sure that the lid is securely latched, etc. and it did not make a difference. Otherwise, there does not appear to be any leakage. The coffee is not too hot, which is a plus for me. Setup was pretty easy, actually. I also wish that the water reservoir was removable, but this is an inexpensive unit. All in all, it is a pretty basic coffee maker and does the job in a very simple fashion.

I think this is better than the older drip maker I had before. Priced very low too.
My very old Mr C died a tragic death. Carafe didn’t fail – the power switch did. All hail the Mr C.So I’m in a hurry to find another drip coffee maker. This B&D was the second least expensive 12 cup model, is all black (match decor look). Why not?Day 2. It works great. The carafe pours easily and drip for on both reservoir fill and coffee dispensing. What I have liked – I believe – the best so far is the water brewing feature under the lid. Not a single water drip like a faucet, but a planned multi-drip over the entire grounds basket. Does it ‘taste’ better? I think so, sing the same grounds as before. I often wondered when the faucet-drip hit the center of the basket, even with the basket generally filling, was I getting ‘all there is’ to the grounds? I am now, and yes the basket still fills but upon peeking into the basket, the cooked grounds are level, and not pushed aside like the former beloved Mr C faucet-like drip. Is it truly better? I believe it is, and this B&D was significantly less than the equivalent Mr C. If it lasts 7+yrs like it’s predecessor, then this is a steal.

Reasonable coffee but unit failed after 6 weeks
The coffee maker worked just fine for a basic coffee maker, and I enjoyed the coffee it made. However, in just a little over a month, the on/off button failed – it seemed to jam in place – and the unit would not turn on and make coffee anymore. I sat on the phone waiting for 20 minutes to finally speak to someone who in turn told me to send an email to a customer service email they provided with details of the order, machine and failure. I have sent off the email and hopefully will receive a replacement unit. +3 stars for decent coffee, -2 stars for machine quality

Compact coffee maker for daily use
This compact coffee maker easily fits on the kitchen counter. It’s very simple to use, fairly self-explanatory, and makes coffee brewing so much more efficient. The capacity is ‘five cups’ but actually is more like two large coffee mugs, as the glass coffee container is rather small, but good for one or two people. The cleanup is swift and after each use there is no automatic on-off switch, so the coffee maker will need to be manually shut off. However, for the price I recommend this machine.

STOP BUYING EXPENSIVE COFFEE POTS!!! I was tired of spending $80+ once a year on a coffee pot that would only last a year and had special screws so that you couldn’t get in and clean the water pipes inside that so easily clogged. Just think of the crap your coffee water is being filtered through before making your coffee. I’m so angry, those screws should be illegal. This coffee pot is just a simple, manual machine that would make coffee fast. Forget throwing so much money away so you can set a clock to have coffee for the morning. You can pour the water and put the grinds in the night before then simply click it on in the morning or spend one minute doing it in the morning and have your coffee faster than you can finish your morning bathroom routine. I’m angry at these companies that deliberately put those screws there to deliberately (uhum) screw you to get more money from you.So what if you spend a few days to get your perfect coffee flavour, you generally have to do that with any pot. I did have to use a bit more coffee with this one because it pours so fast – or maybe it’s simply because it’s a 12 cup pot instead of the 10 cup I was using. I also had x3 thermos coffee pots from the more expensive machines so I simply pour the coffee into one and voila !! Hot coffee for the day without the burn.THANK YOU ‘BLACK and DECKER’ for this cost-saving “Easy Pour, Non-Drip Carafe with Removable Filter Basket” product. I actually didn’t check the type of screws on this one, yet – I’m still too angry about them, but I hope you think about normal ones if you’re using those ‘screwy’ ones. Give the consumer a chance to drink clean water by letting us clean those pipes inside. I guarantee you’ll increase sales on any of your coffee pots if you advertise that ability to always drink clean water with ‘Black and Decker’ products!

Title says it all.I got tired of the taste of my Keurig Coffee and I wanted to return to a drip coffee. I live alone and have no use for a large 12-cup Coffee Maker, so the Black & Decker 5-Cup is ideal for me. The 5-Cup Coffee Maker is a great space-saving product as its compact size barely takes up room on my counter top and can be easily tucked away.I have had this for several months now and the coffee still comes out nice, hot and tasty. My only minor gripe is that when you try to switch it off, it shifts easily because it is so light once all the water/coffee is removed.Pretty much 9.5/10, I would recommend this product.UPDATE: It’s almost 2025 and this bad boy is still going strong!! If you have this in your wishlist/cart just get it! 😝

I have spent a small fortune the last few years on coffee makers. Expensive coffee makers, coffee makers that can be programmed, 12 cup, 14 cup, some look really impressive and some are complicated. I always come back to these basic coffee makers. They are reliable, easy to use, easy to clean, easy to get replacement parts or cheap enough just to totally replace the whole thing – but they seem to last forever. We have gone full circle after experimenting with all kinds of coffee makers, and are back to the good old basic reliable product like this.
